Artistic Transformations - Review
August 24, 2001
- Jess

"Artistic Transformations" is a beautiful and reinventive piano rendition of the TFTM music score. It was composed, arranged, produced and performed by Vince DiCiola. The songs are not simply piano versions of the original but evolved versions of them. It is titled appropiately as you hear the music from the movie transform into something new; a new journey begins. "Artistic Transformations" stands on its own as some of the best TF music we've heard from Vince Dicola yet.

The cover photography was done by Mr. Jon Hartman of 3H Enterprises. This is my favorite cover out of the three C.D.s that I purchased. It has it own unique qualities as the piano and Transformers say something as to what's inside.

There is an insert inside the CD that tells the challenges Mr. DiCola went through to make the music what it is and how the idea came about. He tells us that some of the music proved more challenging than others. The battle music proved to be some of the most challenging. We also learn that the composer loves challenges and I must say, the music proves that he did a good job of overcoming these challenges. The music comes out with enthusiasm and power.

No description I give can describe this musical journey. I'll do my best to put it into words. Our journey envolves many new sounds combined with a since of familiarity, yet unexplored and melodic themes burst through the air throughout the entire trip. We begin with Unicron's theme. We travel to "2005," from there to "Attack on the Shuttle". We then travel to "Gone Fishin" to the "Autobot/Decepticon Battle", from "City Under Seige/Showdown" to the "Death of Optimus Prime", from "Contest to Leadership to the "Suite" to "Dare", the last song in our journey, but it doesn't end there. The journey through "Artistic Transformations" becomes a lasting experience for those who take it again and again.

"Artistic Transformations" is available exclusively from 3H Enterprises. Visit them at www.botcon.com for info on purchasing the CD.
